    Located in the North of Vietnam, Ha Noi City (Hanoi or "Hà Nội") is the Capital of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, also the center of culture, politics, economy and trade of the whole country.

    Ha Noi had been selected as the Capital from 1010 under the name of Thang Long (“Thăng Long” – means Rising Dragon), then changing into a few names before the current name of Ha Noi (“Hà Nội”- means Hinterland) in 1831.

    Not as busy as Ho Chi Minh City or leisure as Hue Ancient Capital, Ha Noi today is an energetic city on the move but still offering visitors the great experience of old time atmosphere. Throughout a thousand years of its eventful history, many ancient architectural works and historical sites are still in well-preserved. Many traditional festivals are also hold in Ha Noi during the year with interesting unique folk games. Ha Noi is known for the most numerous traditional villages in Vietnam. In a radius of about 25 km from the center of Hanoi, you will have the opportunity to visit many traditional villages with unique and famous products.

    Visitors easily fall in love with the land because of its poetic landscape, especially its different shades of four seasons in a year. There are eighteen lakes with their surrounding gardens and trees in Ha Noi, which are also the lungs of the City.

    As the cultural center of Northern Vietnam in several centuries, Ha Noi cuisine brand is unique with famous dishes such as Phở Hà Nội, La Vong Fish Cake (Chả cá Lã Vọng), West Lake's Shrimp Cake (Bánh tôm Hồ Tây), Bún Chả,etc. One interesting thing about Ha Noi cuisine is that you can only find some certain food/dish in certain period of the year.

    Climate

    Ha Noi is situated in a tropical monsoon zone with two main seasons. During the dry season (from October to April), the weather is cold with very little rainfall, except from January to March with some light rains. The wet season (from May to September), is hot with heavy rains and storms. The average annual temperature is 23.2ºC (73.7ºF). The average temperature in winter is 17.2ºC (62.9ºF), but can go down to 8oC (46.4ºF). In summer, the average temperature is 29.2ºC (84.6ºF), but can reach to 39ºC (102.2ºF).
