    Tips:

    - About 50km away from Hanoi to the west, transportation to Duong Lam Ancient Village is convenient with following options for travellers:

    + By local bus: The cheapest way to get to Duong Lam Ancient Village.

    + By bike: Rent a bike to get there if you are familiar with Asia traffic.

    + By taxi/ rental car:  A good choice for a small private group. 

    - When visiting ancient houses:

    + To show your respect, greetings and asking for permission from the owners before entering any ancient houses is a must;

    + Also asking for permission before taking any pictures;

    + DO NOT face against the family’s altar.

    + You can support the local on the reservation works by donating some money on the altars. Or small gifts are also welcome too.

    - Cycling is the best way to wandering around the village and visiting highlight spots nearby. Rental bicycles are available now in the Village. Be careful as riding in narrow alleys. It is also good to check brakes and tires before cycling.

    - There is homestay service for tourists who want to extend their trip in Duong Lam.  Its facilities are basic which includes air-conditioner, toilet and hot shower. Private rooms are available upon request.

    - Enjoying home-cooked meals is a recommended thing to do during a trip to Duong Lam Ancient Village. Reservation is always required. Let the owners be informed if you are vegetarians before your arrival.

    - Beverages such as beer, soft-drinks, mineral water are available at the homestay but green tea is the most recommended choice. Drinking green tea and chatting with the locals would be an interesting experience. Most of the local here cannot communicate in English, but homestay owners usually can speak basic English. 

    -  There are a number of recommended things to do for families such as flying kites, catching fishes by Vietnamese traditional tools, sightseeing on a buffalo cart, etc. and especially harvesting rice by sickle like a real farmer.

    - You can plan a trip to Duong Lam Ancient Village at any time during a year but around September or May, you will have a chance to admire the beauty of the Village in yellow of rice straw along the rural roads.
